About Me

I started caregiving at a very young age when my mother was ill. As the eldest, I had to help take care of my mother as well as my younger siblings. After my mother passed, my younger siblings became my responsibility. I can say caregiving and helping others has been a passion that I took on at a very young age and I really love it. I love this job because it is very rewarding, not only for the ones receiving care but also for me as a caregiver when I see that my clients are comfortable. As a caregiver, I am very upbeat and I love to laugh. I am patient, reliable, and honest. I am very energetic and optimistic. For fun, I love to go shopping, listen to music, and I travel.

I have known Chloris, who we called Joy, for the more than seven years while she worked as a home health aide for my mother. My mother suffered from a number of chronic illnesses, including multiple sclerosis, Guillain-Barre syndrome, and cancer, and she passed away in December 2018 after a courageous, dignified, and prolonged fight. She used a motorized scooter (later a wheelchair), a Hoyer lift and had an indwelling catheter for the last two years of her life. Joy's regular schedule was three overnight shifts (9 pm to 9 am) and both weekend daytime shifts (9 am to 9 pm). Her responsibilities included helping my mother to transfer to and from bed, assisting in dressing and undressing, bathing, feeding and variety of other personal care needs. Additionally, Joy provided psychological and moral support and companionship, which I believe was fundamental to maintaining my mother's sanity through her difficult journey. I am personally very grateful to Joy for her loyalty to my mother and her consistently calm, competent, and upbeat presence. Joy is experienced, honest, and reliable, and of all of the caregivers my mother employed over the years, she was the most gregarious and intellectually curious, and the only one my mother selected to accompany her on out-of-town travel. I can highly recommend Chloris to you.

Joy, whose is also known as Chloris, was a home health caregiver from August 2008 until my mother's death in November 2011. My dad was at home also, and even though he was 100 years old, he was ambulatory and didn't really need any care. My mother was 95 and diabetic and needed much more attention. Joy was a true professional. She tested mom's blood sugar, prepared meals, and made sure mom ate regularly. She did the laundry and light housekeeping. My sisters and I came by frequently and the house was always tidy and clean. She joked around with dad and there was a lot of laughter in the house. Joy was able to do anything we asked of her. We were glad that, with Joy's help, we were able to keep our parents in their own home. She will definitely be an asset to anyone who hires her.
