About Me

I was born in Jamaica. While I was working as a nanny, the father of the child was diagnosed with throat cancer. The family hired someone else to care for their daughter and I worked full-time as a caregiver for the dad for three years. I found that I really enjoyed caring for him and it gave me great joy. Once he recovered and didn't need a caregiver anymore, I gained additional experience working with children, including a year with one child who was severely disabled. She didn't walk or talk or feed herself. I also have experience caring for elderly people with COPD, dementia, respiratory issues, diabetes, feeding tubes, and high blood pressure. I give the best care that I can and love knowing that I can help someone who can't help themselves. I'm a homebody and when I'm not working, I spend time with my mom, read, and watch television. I love to cook and experiment in the kitchen, so I enjoy going through cookbooks and finding new recipes to try.

Recommendations

Corraine was a home health aide for my father twice. She worked for him from July 2017-July 2018 and left because he got better and was able to be on his own. He got sick again in March 2019 and requested that Corraine come back, and she did. She was with him until his death in July 2019. In the beginning, my father was very resistant to having someone in the house with him, but we insisted. Corraine really connected with him from the start. He loved her and she became family. Corraine demonstrated excellent professional judgment and she consistently identified changes with dad, and alerted me to anything she perceived might be a problem. She always exhibited patience with my father, even when he was grumpy. She took initiative to engage and interact with him, took on projects, and helped to uplift his quality of life and personal appearance. My father taught Corraine to make many of the dishes he loved, including pizza, and she made some of her traditional dishes for him. I know that he loved her pumpkin soup. Dad was always dressed nicely and was never without his aftershave. My father was an independent person and wanted to do as much as he could for himself. Corraine let him, but was always right there if she was needed. Corraine is pleasant, approachable, responsible, and kind. There was never an issue of her honesty and trustworthiness. Our family appreciated that she was mature, respectful and flexible. When my father was in the hospital for the last time and Corraine was no longer officially on the job, she volunteered to come to the hospital every day and sit with me so I wouldn't be alone. I recommend her without reservation as she performed all of her duties professionally at a high standard. Anyone would be blessed to have Corraine as a caretaker.

Corraine is an amazing caregiver and home health aide. She took wonderful care of my grandfather when he was diagnosed with dementia and needed extended care. She worked with him from January 2014 until his death in May 2017. Corraine has a peasant demeanor that is balanced perfectly by her sense of dedication to her job. She is an extremely knowledgeable caregiver who offered my grandfather the best in care. She was responsible for a variety of activities, including bathing, preparing and feeding meals, and medication reminders. She took my grandfather for walks around the neighborhood every day to allow him to get fresh air regularly. Corraine was a wonderful caregiver for my grandfather and he adored her. She spent time in conversation with him to keep his mind as sharp as possible. I am confident that anyone will be as happy with Corraine's caregiving work as we were.
