About Me

I was born and raised in Ghana. I worked in the shipping industry at a port, and I also took care of my grandmother before she passed away. When I came to the United States in 2012 and looked at job opportunities, I knew that caregiving was a field where I could excel. I have a passion to help people and find it rewarding being part of people's lives and making sure they get what they want. I'm happy when I'm able to fulfill a person's needs and help them with their daily activities. I've worked with people with dementia and Parkinson's, and I worked in a facility for clients with traumatic brain injuries. Sometimes it was a one-on-one situation and sometimes up to three clients at a time. I had a good rapport with the clients and I tried to help them find humor in their situation. I'm a homebody, so when I'm not working, I watch a lot of news or I read and relax.

Recommendations

Frederick is absolutely the best caregiver and he was the best thing that ever happened to our family. He lived at my father's home from Monday-Friday from September 2018 until dad's death in April 2021. My father was 89 when Frederick started. He had dementia and was very, very hesitant to allow someone to help him. By the end, dad was reaching for Frederick's hand for comfort and it was a beautiful thing. Frederick's professionalism is exceptional. He always treated dad (and my sisters and me) with respect. He went above and beyond the requirements for the job and was the son my father never had. He genuinely and sincerely cared for my father and my father felt the same way about Frederick. Frederick is trustworthy, caring, and attentive. They often played gin, though eventually dad was just holding the cards. Frederick never lost patience or made him feel bad. I appreciated that Frederick encouraged dad to do what he could do, especially with respect to his personal grooming. Frederick would talk him through the routine and step in when needed. He kept the house tidy, made grocery lists and ran the household. My sisters and I were there frequently and all have the same great feelings about Frederick as I do. We all went through more than a dozen caregivers before Frederick and agree that he is at the top of the list. I can't say enough positive things about Frederick and recommend him absolutely.

Frederick was my father's weekend hourly daytime caregiver from 2017 until the end of 2019, with a break in 2018 when he was on another case. Frederick was a great caregiver. Due to a stroke, my father is paralyzed on one side and has aphasia, and he is unable to care for himself. Dad is 5'9" and about 165 lbs, and Frederick used the Hoyer lift to get him out of bed and into his chair. He bathed, toileted, groomed and dressed dad and served as his companion. Dad's mind is all there and he uses an alphabet board to communicate. I loved that Frederick often made him laugh. When I would remind my father that Frederick was coming for the weekend, he'd give me a thumbs up. Frederick was always on time and he's a pleasant and thoughtful person. He kept in touch with me by phone and let me know how my father was doing and if we were running low on supplies. We would definitely hire him again.

My father was 94 years old and his body was just giving out, so he wasn't able to care for himself. I lived nearby and was there every day and worked closely with his caregivers. Frederick started as a weekday hourly caregiver in January 2018, but eventually moved to live with dad 24/7 in his apartment and was there until he died in October 2018. There is nobody better. Frederick performed his job with love. He provided friendship and care until the end of my father's life. He is caring, trustworthy, and responsible and was 1000 times better than any caregiver we had before him. He helped dad with his activities of daily living, did medication reminders, kept the apartment tidy and did a little cooking. Frederick drove dad's car to take him out for breakfast and to church. Sometimes my father would get angry and start yelling, and Frederick was always very patient and able to diffuse the situation. He became like a brother to me and I would recommend him to anyone. I think it's important that good people like Frederick work and care for the elderly, as we personally experienced a lot of the incompetence that's out there, so I know the valve of someone like Frederick.
