In April 2019, my father came home from three months in rehab, needing a full-time caregiver. He was 91 years old and had been treated for aortic valve issues. My mom had a live-in caregiver of her own. I'll always remember the first dinner when dad came home, when Sunday took a moment to acknowledge the time mom and dad had been apart and recognize that they were now back in the house together. It was so touching. Sunday lived at the house 24/7 and took very good care of my father. He took him to dialysis three times each week and many doctor appointments. He was extremely kind and considerate and I know dad was very happy with the care he got. Sunday's responsibilities included bathing, toileting, cooking, laundry and light housework. His smile and positive attitude were very helpful and he poured himself into his work. Despite Sunday's extremely capable care, dad died only five weeks after Sunday started. In that short time, Sunday became part of our family. At the funeral, he spoke about how grateful he was for dad's life, and we certainly were grateful to him for the care he provided.

In 2013, my father could not live on his own any longer, so we hired Sunday to live with him 24/7. Dad could be very difficult. He was messy, didn't want care, and certainly didn't want someone living with him. He could be very mean verbally, but Sunday let it roll off his back, and always had a smile on his face. In fact, he often had to calm me down when dad upset me. Sunday was a great caregiver and was there when we needed him. He lived with dad for four years until his death in June 2017. Sunday helped with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, and toileting. He did the laundry and kept dad's home neat and clean. He would drive my father to doctor appointments, sometimes in dad's car and sometimes in his own car. I did most of the cooking and shopping, but I know Sunday would have been happy to take on those tasks. He was very trustworthy and I always felt comfortable having him in the house. I absolutely would hire him again.
