About Me

I was born in the British Virgin Islands. As I was growing up, my mom always thought I should go into the health care industry. She thought I was a very caring person. In my neighborhood, I would help care for the elderly, preparing meals, bathing, and helping around the house. When I came to the United States, I started a new career as a Travel Agent Contractor. I developed a very big clientele of over 3,000 clients. I attribute much of that to my helping and caring personality. After 9/11, I was forced to close my business due to Internet competition. I decided to listen to my mom and go for my Nurse Assistant certificate and Home Health Aide license. When I received my certificates, I was referred by my professor to work in an assisted living setting as a caregiver. My patients were doctors and pharmacists, and had many other backgrounds. I took care of Alzheimer's patients, and diabetic patients, and helped with their activities of daily living. While working there I became the real me. I took such good care of my patients, just as when I was growing up. I made sure that when my clients came out of their apartments they looked good and felt good. Since I didn't get to take care of my mom or dad, I now have the opportunity to be able to care for other people's mothers and fathers as if they were my own parents.

Recommendations

Elma worked with my father for a few months in 2023 and we found her to be very kind and caring. She was attentive to his needs and very communicative with my sister and me. Elma was a weekend live-in caregiver and she had good suggestions in terms of equipment and items that were helpful for him. She was also very knowledgeable with his medication. Elma was an experienced and knowledgeable caregiver that I would recommend.

Elma Henry worked for my mother as a weekend live-in caregiver from May 2016 until August 2018. Her employment ended when my mother had to relocate. Elma is a warm and good-natured person with a sense of humor and a can-do attitude. My mother's care entailed supervision and prompting rather than hands-on help. Though the job was not physically demanding, it required patience. Elma handled my mother well and treated her kindly and respectfully. In general my mother was a quiet person who was not interested in interacting with her caregivers, but she responded well to Elma's friendliness. As an employee Elma was always eager to work. She was prompt and completely reliable. I knew I could count on her to fill in for another caregiver when needed.

I am writing this recommendation letter for Ms. Elma who is submitting her application for the position of Certified Home Health Aide. I have known Elma for several years in my capacity as the son of Ms. Y. Elma worked as an Aide from Feb. 2011 until March 2015. My mother was hospitalized with terminal illness and is now on Hospice Care. Elma has numerous strengths to offer. She is an expert in her tasks; responsible, disciplined, devoted, and sympathetic. While working with my mother Elma distinguished herself as on outstanding employee. She was always eager to go a step further that expectations and accordingly made lots of great relationships with all of my mother's family. In addition, she had excellent attendance. I find Elma to be very skilled in all areas within the health field particularly acting upon interventions such as taking essential signs, applying aspect techniques including germ-free dressing, ensuring disease control, monitoring dietary intake, and conducting sampling collection. Elma is also very reliable and trustworthy, and very clean and organized. I would highly recommend Ms. Elma. If her past performance is any indication of how she will achieve as a nurse, I believe Elma will be a positive addition to your company. My family and I wish her the best of luck in her future endeavors.

Elma worked with my mother for about two and a half years. During that time we had no problems with her. She is a very, very good worker. Elma is very loving and pleasant. She took care of my mother very well. My mom loved everything about the care she received from Elma. Elma is great with adults as well as children. She is extremely friendly and personable. After my mother passed away, Elma and I would still keep in touch. I recommend her 100%, she is an excellent caregiver.

I am writing this letter to express my support for Elma, whom I had the privilege to meet and work with for 2 years. I am happy to be able to provide this recommendation because I have great respect for Elma as an individual and a professional caregiver. I am confident she deserves this and much more because she possesses outstanding qualities that will make her successful as a caregiver. Elma is extremely bright, caring, and comforting to her clients and nothing seems challenging for her. I have been in the nursing field for 11 years now and I know a very good caregiver and their potential. I have the privilege of working with Elma as her supervisor. She gives 100% care to the clients as assigned and she goes over and beyond if she needs to. She takes great pride in helping patients in their grooming, bathing, dressing and all assistance. Elma will excel in the caregiver profession because she loves and enjoys her job.

I am writing you to provide a recommendation for Elma, as a certified home health aide and caregiver. Elma assisted my father as his home health aide for the past several months while he was living at a Nursing Center, until he passed away recently. Elma was truly a gift and went above and beyond in providing compassionate care to my father during his last days. He needed full-on care and Elma never hesitated in providing any care that was required. She provided great comfort to my father and he looked forward to her daily visits very much. Elma also was wonderful in bonding with our family as well. Families are lucky to have Elma as caregiver for their loved one.
