About Me

When I came to the United States in 2009, a friend introduced me to the job of caregiving. My first client had a little dementia and needed supervision. I was with her to make sure she took her medication. I took her to doctor's appointments and made sure she was safe. All of my life, I lived with my parents and helped care for them. Being a caregiver makes me feel like I am home. I appreciate my clients' lives and it makes me feel good lending a helping hand to someone who needs it. I know I can make them feel better. I like to keep my clients company and listen to their life stories. I am a quiet person; I prefer listening more than talking. In my spare time, I enjoy reading and watching TV. I like to sing in my church and overall, I like to care for others.

Recommendations

Maame took care of my mother from 2010-2014. She was my mother's companion. She helped my mother with everything. She helped her get up in the morning, she helped pick her clothes and assisted her with bathing and getting dressed. She made sure my mother had everything she needed. She took her to her doctor's appointments and followed everything the doctor ordered for my mother. She took my mother out shopping, she made sure the house was nice and clean. My mother loved to go to church so Maame would help her get pretty and took her to church. Maame and my mother had a great relationship, even when my mother was difficult, Maame was patient and very caring. We miss her very much and wish her well in whatever she does.

Maame is kind, helpful, and there when you need her. I am 87 and have bad balance. Maame cooks, helps me with activities of daily living, and does light housekeeping. She's very helpful to me, and I think she would be a good caregiver to anyone that needs help.
