About Me

I've done this job for quite some time and I've worked in different facilities and hospitals, helping people with conditions ranging from spinal cord injury to dementia and stroke. I've chosen this career because I know I can give better care to people in the comfort of their own homes. I like to make sure people are secure. I like to do whatever my client likes to do. I'm very calm, quiet, and reserved. I don't drink or smoke. I'm a churchgoer and I like to watch TV or read books. I love to watch Jeopardy and CNN.

Recommendations

Godfred lived with my husband and me from 2009 until 2011, when my husband died. My husband developed Parkinson's in his 40s and eventually, the medication did not work. He underwent a Deep Brain Stimulation procedure when it was still experimental and suffered a traumatic brain injury. So, not only was he unable to move, but he also lost much of his executive functioning. He became angry and belligerent, demanding and tough, and was extremely difficult to care for. We had many caregivers over the years, but Godfred was an answer from God. He took over my husband's care and took care of me as well. He is very knowledgeable and took on a lot of responsibility, and is also the most caring person I have ever met. He was very gentle and understanding and he had a way of calming my husband and getting him to comply with what needed to be done. He took care of all of my husband's activities of daily living, communicated with him, and provided recreation. He didn't just "do the job;" he took care of him with love. I am so indebted to him and our whole family loves him. Often I would come home and find dinner waiting for me. That was not part of Godfred's job, but he would say, "You need this." I would not have been able to keep my husband at home without Godfred. I believe he enhanced my husband's life and I know he made my life better.

I hired Godfred to care for one of my clients. He was his live-in caregiver from end of 2011 until February of 2016. He was very good. My client was an alcoholic and a very difficult person to care for. I would say that Godfred found a way to manage those difficult moments. He just handled everything very professionally and didn't take anything personal, even though at times it sounded as if it was. Overall, I would say that patience was Godfred's best virtue. I admire that in him. He re-located and could not stay with us, but if he wouldn't have left, I can honestly say he would still be our caregiver. I highly recommend him -- he is a kind man, very low key, and responsible and very respectful. I wish him all the best.
