About Me

When I was younger, I lived with my mother and grandmother. My mother traveled a lot, so I was with my grandmother a lot. She needed help, and I was so young and I couldn't really help her. I decided that I wanted to grow up and be the one to help the elderly. My grandmother is in my heart, always, so I decided to do this because of her. I worked a little in Ghana and also in Germany, as an assistant nurse. I then got into private care in Germany. I received my home health aide license when I came to the United States. I really love to help people. I like to do my best for my clients and make sure they are happy. My clients and I have had great relationships, because they see that I work from my heart. This job is a blessing, and I truly believe that. I don't take things too seriously, and I treat people with respect. I'm humble, and I try to do my best to always be a better person. I treat people how I want people to treat me back. I love to laugh and have a good time. For fun, I like to sing, dance, and be happy.

Recommendations

Gifty lived with my father for about a year in 2015. He was elderly, fragile, and had memory issues. Gifty was helpful, reliable, and very understanding. My father could be rough, and Gifty seemed to have endless patience. Unfortunately, we were no longer able to pay for private care and we moved dad to a nursing facility. It was heartbreaking because Gifty and dad developed a very strong bond. She treated him as if he were her own father. Some of Gifty's responsibilities included reminding dad to take his medications, cooking, and making sure that he was eating properly, doing housekeeping and laundry, and accompanying my father to various doctor appointments. Gifty kept track of expenses very carefully and we counted on her honesty. She took initiative in suggesting to me things that could help make dad's life easier and I appreciated that tremendously. My father's health was Gifty's priority and I trusted her completely. I am happy to recommend her as a caregiver.

From August 2015 until September 2016. Gifty was my father's live-in caregiver. My dad had a stroke and was paralyzed on the left side, which left him wheelchair bound. She took care of all of his activities of daily living, including showering, dressing and feeding. My father was a rather difficult person, but Gifty knew how to help manage his moods and bring a bit of joy into the home and his life. My dad was a bit reserved, but Gifty was great foil for him. She took him to his appointments and to run errands. Gifty was a good companion and made his last few months of his life more comfortable. I have no reservations recommending Gifty -- she is competent, caring, and professional.
