About Me

I enjoy being able to take care of people. I feel very comfortable doing this job and I love it. I have cared for people from different walks of life. I am very warm, kind. Even though it is my job, I treat my clients more like family, because that is how a person gets good care. I was a history teacher back in the Republic of Georgia, so I am constantly keeping myself updated with worldly events by reading.

Anna is a lovely lady who worked with my mother for nine months in 2021. She was excellent at calming my nervous and shouting mother who was often difficult to deal with due to her declining condition and memory loss. I found her to be very reliable, always on time, accommodating, and flexible. My mother was mostly bedridden and Anna help with all of her daily needs. I was happy to have her as an aide for my mother.

My mother had dementia for 8 years during which time her condition worsened slowly but progressively. In the last 3 years, we needed to being in help, at first 12 hours per day, 5 days per week. My mother could be a handful and resistant to new people, especially those who she thought had "invaded" her home. At first, she rejected Anna and told Anna, "I'm not a nice person. You won't like me." Of course, this was a ploy to scare Anna away. But within a couple of days, my mother was raving about what a special person Anna was and indeed, Anna IS a special person. Always attentive and with the patience of a saint, she would answer my mother's cycle of repeating questions as if they were asked only once and for the first time. She took my mother on walks around the neighborhood, to have lunch, shop for groceries, and to the movies. All of these activities had unique challenges that Anna handled with patience and care. Over time, they formed a real bond. My mother looked forward to seeing Anna every Monday and lamented Anna's well-deserved weekend time off. Anna's duties included medications, helping to bathe my mother and tending to her hygiene, cooking and serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, and accompanying my mother to doctor appointments. As time went on, we needed to add additional help and expand to 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. And just as importantly, Anna worked seamlessly as a team with the other two caretakers. She always kept in communication with me and my sister by phone or by text, especially alerting us to any physical or mental change. We always had complete confidence that our mother was safe, happy, and well taken care of. In the last month of my mother's life, my mother's mental and physical health took a precipitous turn for the worse -- something that would challenge even the strongest person. But Anna was always very reassuring and never lost the strength to take care of my mother, even during her final, very trying days. My mother's physician also had complete confidence in Anna. When my mother passed away, Anna was there to give my sister and I comfort. We both consider Anna as part of our extended family. I can, without reservation, very highly recommend Anna as a home caregiver.

It is my pleasure to recommend Anna as an excellent caregiver. Anna took care of my parents from 2012-2016. I had been continually impressed by Anna's good temperament, no matter the circumstances. Anna had been particularly adept at changing the mood of my mother, secondary to her diagnosis. Anna always had an ability to empathize with my mother and knew what my mother needed. Anna could hug my mother, make a joke, or shield my mother from embarrassment. Anna had a continual respect for my mom, which was not always the case in this type of relationship. Anna had always consulted with my mother on how to do things like finding the correct English word. Anna is able to change directions easily and she responded quickly to whatever my mother needed. Anna made sure my mother and father were in a warm and compassionate environment. I recommend her highly.
