About Me

It is my dream to become a nurse. My inspiration for this career was taking care of my grandmother back in Jamaica. She had dementia and I kept her company at all times and made her feel wanted and comfortable. I love caregiving because I treat my clients just like my family members. I love working with the elderly in general. As a caregiver, I involve my clients in their care routine, as long as they can choose for themselves, and if not I try my best to make them as comfortable as possible with my service. I am loving and I like to have fun. I love to cleanliness and always make sure that my clients and their surroundings are neat and clean. In my spare time, I love to go shopping, especially for interior decorations.

Recommendations

I am happy to recommended Grace -- she has been great with my mom. She worked with us for about six months until Spring of 2020, when we my mom moved into a nursing home. Grace is so knowledgeable about the medications my mom is taking and she has a lot of experience with patients with Parkinson’s disease. My mother has lost interest in doing the things she used to like to do. Grace keeps her busy by playing games, doing puzzles, and doing her hair and makeup. She makes sure my mom is safe. Grace gives us excellent advice about how to care for a senior and I am thankful to LeanOnWe for helping us hire Grace.

I was planning to travel out of the country January 2017 and my mother, in her late 80s, needed a companion and caretaker to stay over as she lived alone. It was mostly for peace of mind for me and my husband, as we lived downstairs from my mom and took care of her. My mother, at the time, was ambulatory and cognitively intact. She had COPD, lung cancer, diabetes, hypertension, severe arthritis, and a pacemaker. My priority was to have a medically astute caretaker who was strong, personable, and kind. Grace possessed all of these qualities and she was reliable, warm, loving, and as an added bonus, she had a sense of humor. Grace stayed with my mom whenever we went away that year and whenever she was hospitalized for various reasons. Grace was with her 4 nights a week and sometimes more. She cared for her, befriended her, treated her with dignity, and kept her clean, comfortable, well fed and most importantly happy. She truly cared for her. It brought a smile to my mother's face whenever Grace arrived, no matter the physical or emotional battle she was facing. I would trust Grace to take care of any family member; she became a friend and lifeline to me. I don't think I would have survived the unfortunate ordeal my mother faced without her. Grace very lovingly called my mom, "Mommalu," and I will never forget how well she took care of her and also made sure we had the right help when she couldn't be with her. She coordinated and staffed my mother's 24/7 care. Any family would be fortunate to have Grace in their life when the going gets rough and they need support.

I have known Grace since 2009. She was hired to be the home health aide for my brother, later for my father, and then for my mother. All were in terminally ill situations. She has also, from time to time, assisted in caring for my husband. For all of these years and with each member of my family, Grace has been an outstanding and dedicated caretaker. She assisted in bathing, dressing, feeding, and all aspects of daily life that were struggles for my family members. She was and remains caring, congenial, reliable, responsible, and very professional in all interactions with the patient and other family members. She is a beautiful person, inside and out, and I can't compliment her enough. Grace has an amazing attitude and interacts beautifully with everyone. She is an absolute joy to work with and I highly recommend her.
