About Me

When I was growing up in Africa, I didn't know my mother very well because she passed away when I was 7. I saw her struggling and realized that she was sick. Watching my mother being taken care of is something that has always stuck in my mind. When I started going to school, I figured that when I finished high school, I wanted to continue to be a nurse to take care of others. I then went to England to learn English. After England I went back to Africa, and I didn't get to finish my nursing studies because of financial issues. I came to America and started looking for a job to care for people. My friend was caregiving at the time, and she told me about the different agencies. After that, I was hooked. I love, love the job. I have learned a lot and have seen a lot. I have learned a lot of wisdom from my patients. Being a caregiver is a very nice thing to do for others. If I can help somebody, then my job is done. Right now I work with hospice patients and it's very hard, but I love it. I like to make my patients comfortable; that is the most important thing. If you don't love something, you can't do it the right way. I'm very compassionate. caring, and patient. On my days off, I like to watch soap operas and Dr. Phil. I also like to cook and talk. I love talking with my patients and establishing relationships. I'm a very good listener.

Recommendations

Bintou cared for my mother on and off for a few years. She just recently stopped working with my mother this past summer of 2015. My mother has Parkinson's and suffered from one too many falls. She couldn't be alone, so that is why Bintou came to us. She helped with dressing, bathing, cooking, you name it, she did it. We all love Bintou's personality; She really is a great conversationalist and is an absolutely wonderful woman. She gets the job done and will go above and beyond to do other things. For example, she didn't need to clean the house, but when she felt like it was necessary, she would clean the house. She also treated my mother respectfully, which I find to be very important. She is very competent at her job. I will always recommend her to my friends and loved ones. Bintou is amazing.

Bintou was a caregiver for my mother for 15 months in 2006-2007. My mother was 91 and had a series of cardiac events, followed by pneumonia which left her mind intact, but her body battered. She was not able to walk more than 15 feet, even with a walker, so I hired Bintou to give her 24/7 care. Bintou was responsible for my mother's "activities of daily living" as well as cooking, laundry, and light housekeeping. I lived about 100 miles away, so I only saw mom and Bintou about once a month, but we were in constant phone contact. Bintou is very intelligent, and is considerate and kind. I was always amazed at her patience and her tactfulness. There were many issues with my mother, and Bintou was always able to diffuse them. They developed a meaningful relationship and Bintou spoke beautifully at her funeral. I would absolutely recommend her as a caregiver.
