About Me

I started caregiving in 1995 because I'm a people person and I'm always willing to help. My customers would describe me as happy, with a great sense of humor, and would mention that I go above and beyond to make them comfortable. I want to help my clients feel in control of their situation, and am always supportive of their needs. While I can cook whatever type of food my clients need or like, I'm also happy to cook Jamaican food for them upon request. I like to sit and talk with my clients, find out their interests, and engage them in activities. When I am not working, I enjoy reading, discussing current events, and spending time with my family.

Recommendations

Taushia started as my husband's caregiver in April 2019 and she'll be with us until we go out of state for the winter. My husband is in his 90s, post-stroke, with an AFib diagnosis. Taushia assists my husband with daily living tasks (dressing, bathing, feeding), and will drive my car to take him to doctor appointments. Taushia's communication skills are very good, and she carries through with her responsibilities, uses initiative, and takes direction. Taushia is always compassionate and understanding with my husband and his needs, and I recommend her as a caregiver.

I live in a different state than my parents and was only able to visit my parents on the weekends, so we hired Taushia to be with them during the work week. My parents were mobile, but both were fall risks, and they were no longer driving. Taushia assisted with bathing and did the supermarket shopping and cooking. Whenever we needed her, she was there for us. She sometimes stayed overnight or worked on the weekends. She made my life stress free. Taushia was very attentive to my parents and they liked having her around. I appreciated that Taushia kept in touch with me, and called when something was going on. After almost two years of having Taushia as their main aide, my parents moved to out of state in 2017 to live with relatives. We were sorry to lose her.

Taushia was a weekend caregiver for my parents from 1997-2006. In the beginning, my parents lived in an apartment and Taushia lived with them on the weekends. In 2001, they moved to a facility. My dad died in the first month they were there, but mom lived until 2006. For those 5 years, Taushia worked on Saturday and Sundays from 11 am until 7 pm. Though it's been years since my mother died, I remember Taushia well. She was very caring and dedicated to my parents. She always took the time to make my mom look pretty. She made sure her hair and nails were done, and took care of grooming that the facility staff never would have bothered with. Taushia took mom outside and took her to activities and generally helped with her quality of life. As an employee, Taushia was reliable and trustworthy and I was always pleased with the care she gave my parents.
