About Me

When I first arrived in the United States in the late 1990s, I started babysitting and caregiving. I stayed in caregiving because I enjoy interacting with my customers and I get along with many different people. I have established a positive relationship with my clients over the years. One particular situation was with a client who had MS and limited use of his arm. He had stepped out of his car and was about to fall. I rushed over as he was leaning forward, and I caught him. He was happy that I was there for him. Another moment occurred with a different client when I was able to pick up on the fact that he was in a bad situation, and I was able to seek immediate medical assistance for him. And in a third instance, I had a client who had no pulse, so I performed CPR on him and was able to revive him. I provided an accurate recall of the moment to emergency medical personnel. My clients adore me; they describe me as patient, kind, and trustworthy. They say my patience is unending, and I take direction very well. When I am not working, I enjoy meditation, yoga, spa retreats, and relaxing.

Recommendations

It is my great pleasure to recommend Althea Hyatt as a home health aide. Althea took care of my mother full time for the last two years of her life, starting with her release from rehab following a broken hip through her surviving sepsis and being bedridden for the last few months when she lived at home with hospice care. Through it all, Althea was a caring, engaging professional. From encouraging my mother to walk and exercise following her broken hip, to ensuring her comfort and dignity when she could not take care of the simplest hygienic tasks, Althea was always looking out for mom. Althea is smart, knowledgeable, organized, and creative in her approach, with deep knowledge of her field. Thanks to Althea, I never had a moment’s worry about my mother’s care. Althea is also a great cook and a charming companion, not only to her patient, but to her patient’s family. She was a great comfort to me in November 2021 when my mother died, for which we were both present, which meant a lot. Any family would be lucky to have Althea care for their loved one.

I was diagnosed with ALS in 2008, but have been fortunate that it is moving very slowly. Even so, I need about four hours of caregiving help each day. Althea was my weekend caregiver from October 2018 until we went to Florida in January 2019. When we returned in March, she worked again for a bit, but she really needed a job that was closer to her home and that offered her more hours. We were very sad to lose her, because she is one of the best caregivers I've had. Her responsibilities included helping me get washed and dressed in the mornings, and helping me walk outside. I'm about 200 pounds and 5-foot-11, and I always felt comfortable with Althea holding my arm. We often went to the supermarket and cooked together. She is a very good cook, and that's something I enjoy as well. Sometimes we'd use my recipe, sometimes hers, and sometimes we'd create something entirely new. Althea is a very upbeat person and was willing to go anywhere or do anything. She is also extremely professional, well trained, and good with the computer. When we would go out, Althea would drive my car and I found her to be an excellent driver. I enjoyed going to lunch with her at the club or to the beach, and she even came away with us one weekend. My wife and I like Althea very much and recommend her strongly.

Althea was my 85-year-old mother's live-in weekend caregiver from the summer of 2017 until the summer of 2018. My mother has Alzheimer's and physical disabilities, requiring 24-hour live-in care. Althea would help my mother with dressing, grooming, bathing, and other daily living tasks. I myself had a stroke, and was staying with my mother while I recovered. During this time, I was able to observe firsthand Althea's diligent work ethic. I especially noticed how kind and patient she was toward my mother. Althea was proactive in keeping my mother entertained, and was always looking for something to do. I have absolute confidence in Althea's caregiving skills. One example of Althea's wonderful care toward my mother was when she would take my mother out to a restaurant. Althea would take care to see that the right food order was placed before my mother, and ensure my mother had a satisfying experience outside the house. Althea had a way of engaging with my mother and keeping the conversation flowing. I truly appreciated how Althea would go the extra mile to really interact with my mother and get her to respond. Althea is very trustworthy and reliable, and I had no qualms about letting her use the family vehicle to take my mother to the doctor or to restaurants. I wish we lived closer and could have Althea back as a caregiver. Anyone who hires Althea as a caregiver will be very lucky to have her.
