About Me

I initially wanted to be banker but after earning my master's degree, I discovered it wasn't for me. I felt banking was isolating, and a friend of mine who was a Nursing Home Administrator for a Long-Term Care facility, suggested I apply for an Assistant Social Services Director at the facility via an alternative educational route. I fell in love with the field, and felt really productive doing hands-on care, getting to know the client's family members, and helping families navigate the challenges of health insurance, doctor's instructions, and Medicaid. I also appreciated being able to help people and advance my education when not working. I fulfill my purpose of caring for individuals by sharing my knowledge and expertise with them. I consider myself to be a patient, understanding, pleasant, and knowledgeable individual. I am conversational in Spanish, Italian, and French, and can relate to people of many cultures and nationalities. My clients would describe me as a very good worker and very well-informed when it comes to health care issues. They also consider me to be a tenacious person who won't give up easily. For example, a client of mine designated me as her health care proxy, and I became fully immersed in assisting her with insurance challenges and medical benefit questions. I also provide hands-on care for this client, and I will go above and beyond to see that she is well-cared for, comfortable, and has no worries about any insurance situations. When I am not working, I like to read, catch up on current events, and follow emerging health care trends so I can keep clients informed.

Recommendations

I could not have dreamed up a better caregiver than Tyrone. He is educated, smart, caring, and loving. My husband had dementia and when Tyrone started as his weekday daytime caregiver in January 2021, my husband was able to communicate and they got to know each other. Tyrone really cared for my husband and was heartbroken when he died in December 2021. Tyrone's responsibilities included helping with all activities of daily living and he also helped around the house with anything I needed. We had a routine where Tyrone would arrive before his shift started. We'd sit in the kitchen with our cat on his lap, have coffee and talk about the upcoming day. Tyrone interacted with the doctors and nurses because he kept track of all the details they needed, and they relied on the information he provided. He was very knowledgeable. I trusted Tyrone's judgment and at one point, he drove me to investigate an assisted living facility for my husband, though in the end, I decided to keep my husband at home. In short, I highly recommend Tyrone as a fantastic caregiver.

Tyrone has been helping me for many years, on and off, on an hourly basis since approximately 2004. I find Tyrone to be very polite, respectful, and most importantly, trustworthy. Tyrone is flexible with the hours he comes and works with me. I can call him any time, day or night, though we do most of our work during the day. I have had two knee replacements and have trouble getting around. Tyrone takes me in his car to doctor appointments and to the store. Tyrone and I have such a wonderful relationship, and I am willing to share him. I believe that we need to love one another, and sharing Tyrone with another individual that needs his help is my way of showing love to others, the way Tyrone shows love to me. I haven't needed Tyrone as much since Covid-19 hit (March 2020), but he calls me and checks in on me. He is willing to go above and beyond, and I give him the highest of recommendations.

Tyrone was was my part-time caregiver after my stroke from approximately 2011-2014. Tyrone helped me with personal care, and also assisted with meal preparation and light housekeeping. Tyrone also drove me to doctor appointments, ran errands on my behalf, and took me out in the community when the weather was nice. Tyrone became like a family member to me, and he is honest and caring. There are a few good people on this earth, and I am proud to say that Tyrone is one of them. I recovered from my stroke, and am doing things on my own. However, if I need care again in the future, I would definitely want Tyrone to help me.
