About Me

I was born in Ghana and I worked in public health as a midwife for more than 25 years. Being a midwife was so interesting. I was the person who brought babies into the world and that was really meaningful to me. In addition to delivering babies, as part of my public health responsibilities, I followed up with each family in their home teaching parents about immunizing their children and giving them health education. It was important to make sure they were following my instructions and that the baby was happy, healthy, and safe. When I retired, I moved to the United States to be closer to my son and daughter-in-law. I started working as a caregiver because I want to help people who are in need and can't help themselves. I try to make them comfortable and now I have experience working with the elderly as well. When I'm not working, I listen to the news and I love to sing in the church choir when I can.

Recommendations

Margaret was hired to provide care for my mom. My mom uses a wheelchair and I needed someone who would be able to assist me in caring for mom's every need. Margaret began working with us in April 2020 and the agency we were looking with at the time assigned another caregiver when Margaret took vacation in October 2021. For the time she was with us, she was friendly and helpful. Her responsibilities included assisting mom with showering and dressing ,and transferring her from her wheelchair. Although it was not part of Margaret's job description, she would always offer to help me with cooking and cleaning. She was attentive with mom and we loved the care she provided.

My mom had dementia and needed care 24/7 since I did not live with her. Margaret worked with my mom from December 2018 until she passed away in March 2020. Margaret assisted my mom with everything and was extremely clean and sanitary. Aside from dementia, my mom had to get dialysis three times a week. Margaret accompanied her to her appointments and ensured she was comfortable. Margaret is funny and pleasant to be around. I particularly remember how she made my mom laugh every time we went out to McDonald's. Even after mom died, Margaret kept in touch and that meant a lot to me. She will provide excellent care to anyone who needs it.
