About Me

My daughter has epilepsy and she had a lot of complications when she was younger. That is what got me interested in the health care field. I became a Personal Care Assistant in 1997 and then got my Home Health Aide license in 2001. I like to see my client's happy and in a clean environment. I always care for my clients like I'm caring for one of my family members. I think about my mother and how I would want her treated. I want them to be comfortable. I like to go for walks with the patient, if they like to do that. I used to do exercises with one of my patients every day. It's important to make sure people stay active. We can play games, read a book, or even dance. I'm very passionate about my work. I have a lot of patience and I'm a very cautious person.

Recommendations

Maria started working for us in September 2011 and worked for five years at the Convent, which is a retirement and assisted living community for religious sisters. Maria is an outstanding health care aide. She is very skilled in working with the elderly, always respecting their dignity and bringing great sensitivity to their vulnerability. She sees what needs to be done and helps out in whatever way she can. She is very responsible and reliable in every aspect of her duties. It is without reserve and with great enthusiasm that I wholeheartedly recommend Maria to you. She will be a gifted asset to anyone.

My father was a doctor. In 2009, he was in his 90s and had complications of COPD as well as other complications of old age. He lived with me, but needed an aide. Maria worked a 12-hour shift every day from 2009-2012. We had a number of caregivers, but she really stood out. She was great with the oxygen tank, and was extremely trustworthy and a hard worker. As a person, she is so sweet and caring and very responsible. Maria helped dad with his medications, cooked, and helped with his personal hygiene. I was impressed with Maria's hygiene during food prep. She is a neat and organized person in general. Maria has a heart of gold and I still keep in touch with her. Once, she bought dad earphones as a gift when she noticed he was having trouble listening to the TV. She was always attentive to my father, especially when he was using his walker. She would be right behind him all the time. He enjoyed her companionship and I really appreciated the care she gave to my father. I am happy to recommend her.

I am the director of the Home Health Aide training center. Maria graduated from our program in April 2017. She displayed a high degree of skill and professionalism. She is bright, hardworking and driven; a fast learner, a team player, detail-oriented, well-organized, and a self-starter. I believe she will be an asset and recommend her without hesitation for any Home Health Aide position.
