Mitzie was a caregiver for my mother from September 2016 until the day she died in February 2017. My mother had diffuse scleroderma, some mental confusion, and was on hospice at home. Mitzie was cheerful and upbeat and brought a good vibe with her each time she walked into the house. She would restore order and make everything right. She is a talented and caring person, physically strong but very gentle, thorough, consistently affectionate and always professional. Even the hospice social worker praised her talent and professionalism. Mitzi helped my mother with activities of daily living and reminded her to take her medications. She did light housekeeping and kept things the way mom liked them. She also was responsible for feeding the cat and cleaning the litter box. For the last few weeks, she maintained the oxygen tank. The thing I appreciated most about Mitzie is the respect she showed for my mother. She explained exactly what she was going to do before she did anything and was always aware of mom's dignity and personhood. She treated her with love and mom (and my sister and I) loved her back. I was commuting from Georgia every weekend and Mitzie's presence helped me as much as it did my mother. She clearly has a lot of experience and she helped my sister and me learn to care for our mother. When mom was in the hospital, Mitzie was there every day and provided continuity. When mom was home, Mitzie got her out of bed, dressed, and in the main room as often as possible. Mitzie makes a special smoothie and was often the only person who could get mom to eat. She had a sweet way with mom and was always patient, even when mom was not her nicest. Mitzie was proactive about what my mother needed and varied mom's routine often. There was a time when mom had extreme anxiety and Mitzie was able to keep her calm. There was a dramatic difference between Mitzie and the other caregivers. I can't recommend her enough or speak highly enough about her.

Mitzie cared for my husband for a few years. My husband had Lou Gehrig's disease, so he could not speak or move. He needed a lot of attention. We fed him with a feeding tube and he had a kidney tube. He also had a permanent catheter. Needless to say, my husband required a lot of assistance and care. Mitzie was by his side through it all. I really don't think that I could have done it without Mitzie's help. She was and is absolutely wonderful. It was like having a good friend live with us and take care of my husband. When he was put on hospice for 6 months, Mitzie stayed with us. She was always right there when we needed her and she made everything go smoothly and as easily as possible. I highly recommend Mitzie for any position as a caregiver -- she will be an asset to anyone.
