About Me

I was born in Tblisi in the Republic of Georgia. As a teenager, I was a caregiver for my grandmother after school and I helped her with many activities of daily living. I got my Bachelor's degree and I worked as an early childhood psychologist and taught students from kindergarten through high school for almost 12 years. As a teacher, I worked with both special needs and neuro-typical children. I moved to the United States in 2015 so that I could earn more money to support my family. Many of my friends are caregivers and they recommended this profession to me. My first job was working with a woman who was a diabetic and had a series of strokes. I also completed the Home Health Aide course and that was very helpful. Now as a caregiver, I think of my grandmother and I feel like I'm taking care of my own loved one. I'm a people-pleaser and it makes me happy to make others happy. When I'm not working, I love to travel, spend time with friends, and I enjoy the movies.

Recommendations

Katerina provided excellent, full-time live-in care for my elderly mother-in-law from January 2019 until my mother-in-law's death in May 2021. She assisted my mother-in-law with daily hygiene, prepared meals, provided companionship, and kept her safe. Katerina slept in the twin bed next to my mother-in-law so that she could assist with any needs during the night. She drove our family car to take my mother-in-law to the beauty parlor, senior center, and foot doctor. Most importantly, Katerina provided all of this care with tremendous warmth, patience, and kindness. She was very attentive to my mother-in-law's needs and addressed them promptly and compassionately. We live nearby and spent a good amount of time with Katerina. I have experience with over 16 years of caregivers for my own mother and my expectations were very high. I found Katerina to be honest, open, and reliable in her interactions with us. She is very independent and I trusted her judgment. At the same time, I knew that she would communicate with us when it was appropriate. My mother-in-law cherished her independence and privacy and found it difficult at first to have someone else in her home. But she grew to love Katerina and was grateful for all she did. When my mother-in-law broke her femur, Katerina and I split 12-hour shifts so she wouldn't be alone in the hospital. When she moved to rehab, Katerina went with her and she was fantastic. She advocated for my mother-in-law and didn't let the facility staff push her around. Our experience with Katerina was wonderful and I highly recommend her. She's bright, personable, lovely -- and she really cares.

I hired Katerina in November 2016 as a companion and caregiver for my mother and she was with mom until January 2019. Mom had heart problems and some forgetfulness and I didn't feel that she was safe living alone. Katerina is an extraordinary person with integrity and passion, and she is highly motivated. She lived with mom during the week and assisted in day-to-day activities like bathing, dressing, preparing meals, and taking mom to appointments and shopping. She was always attentive, aware of mom's needs, and very patient. Katerina was thorough and professional and a great help to my family. She had a smile on her face day and night and made my mother very happy. I offer my recommendation without reservation and know that anyone who has Katerina caring for them will be a very lucky person.
