About Me

I moved from Nigeria in 2000 to live in Milan, Italy, and I was in Milan for 9 years. What I loved about Milan was the food and the people. I loved living in Italy, but I decided to move to the United States in 2009 and begin my life in a new country. My partner at the time was a nurse, and he influenced me to begin working in this field. That is when I decided to get into caregiving. My goal is to eventually become a nurse, so I started with my Home Health Aide and Certified Nurse Aide licenses. I love helping people who can't help themselves, like the elderly or those who are ill. For me, this is a fun job. I enjoy being around the elderly. I like talking with them and asking them questions about their past life. I like to ask them about their travels and the foods they like. I just love to converse with my patients. I have a good heart, and I like being around people. When I'm not working, I like to cook and clean. I love having a clean house.

Recommendations

Sandra has taken care of my mother since 2012. My mom has developed dementia, but remembers Sandra from before and knows her face and loves her. Sandra is a sweetheart and very caring. She takes care of my mother from A to Z. When she is with my mother, she helps my mom communicate with her sisters around the world. She calls each one at the right time for their schedule and talks with them and then has my mom speak to them. It means so much to her sisters to be able to talk to my mom. Sandra is wonderful. She also knows how to calm my mom down and she helps me relax when I get nervous about my mom's condition.

I have had many caregivers over the years since my husband was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Some are bossy. Some don't speak nicely to my husband. Sandra is terrific. She understands how to cajole my husband with sweetness and compassion and I think she is terrific. She started with us at the end of 2014 and she has the responsibility for the "night shift" 3 - 4 times per week. My husband wakes up every 3 hours to use the bathroom, and she always helps him in a very nice way. I trust her completely. Twice a year, I have to be away overnight, and I have no qualms about leaving my husband (and my home) in Sandra's care. I highly recommend her.
