About Me

I was a police officer for more than 10 years back in my country, Jamaica. In Jamaica, I also took care of my grandmother for about 3 years. My grandmother had Alzheimer's and I helped her with feeding, cooking, grooming, and going to appointments. When I came to the United States in 2011, I was no longer interested in going back to being a police officer because of the passion I developed after taking care of my grandmother. I decided to become a caregiver in 2012. I love the joy this job brings to me and to my clients. I am always happy to assist or help my clients, and I also enjoy listening to their experiences. I must say I have have learned a lot from their advice and experience. I take pride in my work. I do take responsibilities very seriously. I know how to calm situations down and keep my surroundings clean. I am punctual, reliable, dependable, hard working, and a very good listener. When I am not working, I love to stay at home to relax.

Recommendations

I was the power of attorney and healthcare proxy for a dear friend of mine during the last 2 years of her life. My friend had a neurodegenerative disease, so when my friend was able to manage her care in the beginning, she hired 4 different aides to assist her in 2014. Around 2016, I took over the care plan because my friend could not speak anymore and needed a lot of assistance. We kept 2 out of the 4 aides for around-the-clock care and Sharnette was one of those aides. My friend needing everything done for her and could not be left alone. Sharnette was very respectful and took excellent care of her client. She knew what my friend liked and didn't like. She would keep me in the loop if there were ever any changes in her behavior. I'm a nurse and I requested that they provide shift reports to me. They knew her routines and her medication. I know that my friend loved Sharnette and we loved how helpful Sharnette was for us all. I still stay in touch with her and recommend her services. She provided quality care for my friend, and I know she will do the same for any future clients she has.

I am the healthcare proxy for a dear friend of mine who is in her 90s. She needs 24-hour care and assistance because she is very weak and doesn't have great balance. Sharnette lived with my friend for about a month in 2017. She helped her with cooking, cleaning, bathing and everything else that needed to be done. My friend loved Sharnette. Sharnette is extremely personable and easy to talk to. She's also very responsible and gets the job done. She also knows what she's doing and doesn't have to be asked twice to do something. My friend had to go into the hospital and when she came out, Sharnette was not available to help us out. I know she'll be great for whoever that decides to hire her.
