About Me

I started taking care of my mother in Jamaica and that's where I got my inspiration to take care of other people. I think my mom was very lucky to have my sisters and I there to take care of her. I figured that there were other people who needed help, just like my mom, and I've been caregiving ever since. I would not change my job for anything. I like the look on people's face especially when I can show them love or make them smile. A lot of times people are lonely, so a little hug or kiss on the forehead really makes a difference. I like physical contact with my clients: holding hands, giving them a hug, reassuring them as much as I can to make them feel safe. I'm very outgoing and love to smile. I like to show empathy and put myself in others' shoes. I'm very hard working as well. In my spare time, I like to relax and spend time with my kids. I live a simple life. When I can, I like to travel, especially going to Florida because a lot of my family is down there.

Recommendations

I have known Marion since 2015. We originally wanted her to come and work for my mother, but the schedule wasn't consistent enough for her so she took a more permanent job at a facility. I would call on her for emergencies and she would try to help if she could. Then in January 2018, it worked out that Marion had more free time and came to work with my mother more consistently on an overnight basis. Marion was one of my mother's favorite aides, and we had a lot of them. Marion knows what she's doing and has very good instincts on the job. She is willing to do other tasks in the house aside from devoting her time to the patient. Marion is also very strong and was able to assist my mother with transfers. Towards the end, Marion was great at encouraging and feeding my mother. She never ever ran out of patience, and we were so pleased because she never fell asleep overnights when she was there. My mother didn't like being treated like a child or talked to condescendingly, and Marion never did that to her. She was extremely respectful and provided a sense of calmness for my mother. She was also very respectful to my father. My mother never had a bed sore with Marion. Marion was with my mother right up until the day before she passed away. I can't say enough great things about her. You won't regret hiring her.

Marion was my mother's caregiver for about a year, 2016-2017. My mother was old and dying and in her final stages of life. My mother lived with me but it was just getting to be too much for me to take care of her on my own, so we hired Marion. Marion is outstanding at her job. She's attentive, nurturing, and fully reliable.Marion attended many of our family events and everyone felt so comfortable with Marion and she fit right in with our group. Marion would prepare meals for mother, dress her, take her to doctor appointments, or take her outside for fresh air. Marion really did everything for my mother. She was there holding my mother's hand, while I held her other hand as she passed away. She was also helpful for me after my mother passed taking care of things around the house. Marion was really a joy to have around, and it was fun because it was like we had a slumber party every night together. I can assure you that you will love working with Marion.
