About Me

I grew up in Africa and I have always loved older people as well as children. It's a pleasure for me to work as a caregiver. I really like this job because I like to cook for people, do housekeeping, drive them around, and assist with their daily lives. I always try to make people happy. I talk to my clients or play games with them. If someone gets upset, I speak slowly to them and calm them down. I also like to make jokes with my clients. I'm always reliable and get the job done. I respect my client and encourage people to get up and move around. When I'm not working, I like to spend time with my family.

My mother died in August 2017 at the age of 99. She was of sound mind until the end, and had been completely independent until the fall of 2016 when she fell and broke her hip, and six weeks later, fell and broke her other hip. She continued to live in a high-end continuing care retirement community, but she needed round-the-clock aides and Haja was her weekday daytime caregiver for about 8 months. Haja is very smart, very conscientious, and very organized. She is also warm and caring and has a wonderful sense of humor. Mom enjoyed having Haja around. Haja was very good at anticipating my mother's needs and keeping her engaged. Mom was always dressed beautifully and wearing jewelry and looking great. Haja cooked hearty, delicious breakfasts and lunches. I live out of town and managed mom's medical care remotely, but I would visit for a block of time every month and got to know Haja well. I found that she took her job seriously and she did not hesitate to contact me when she had a concern. Haja encouraged the aides on the other shifts to communicate with each other, and that benefited them and mom. My siblings always took Haja with them when they went to the doctor, and Haja stayed on top of mom's issues. I think she'd be a great nurse or physician's assistant. As a caregiver, Haja often went above and beyond her specific duties. For mom's birthday, she brought in a cake and party hats. All of my siblings were very pleased with the care that Haja gave our mother and we are happy to give her an excellent reference.

I am Haja's supervisor at an assisted living facility. Haja and I have been working together since August 2017 and it's now June 2018. Haja is one of the caregivers who works with the Alzheimer's unit. The residents there love her. Haja assists the residents with their activities of daily living, including feeding them and doing activities with them. She communicates with the families and the families all love her. She knows her job well and is an excellent worker. She's extremely hard-working and very punctual. She always goes the extra mile and helps in any way she can. You won't regret hiring her -- she's amazing.
