About Me

A while back when my grandfather was sick and I didn't think he was getting proper care, I decided to take care of him. That is when I realized that I have a passion for taking care of people. I really enjoy this line of work. I like to dress my clients and take them out to the park. I like to keep people happy and smiling, and I make jokes a lot. I'm very joyful and pleasant, and others describe me as a people's person. I'm always trying my best to please others. I also have a cosmetology background, so I can cut hair and do nails if my client would like my help with that. When I'm not working, I like to spend time with my family and I also love to go shopping.

My husband had advanced Parkinson's disease and dementia and was unable to do anything for himself. Donnette was his caregiver from 2016 until his death in April 2018. She worked a 14-hour overnight shift from Monday to Thursday. She arrived in time to work with the day person so they two of them could get him ready for bed. Though there was a bed in another room for her, Donnette sat in the lounge chair next to my husband all night long. In the morning, she would bathe him. I marveled at how gentle and patient she was. She would talk to him and tell him exactly what she was doing while caring for him, even though I don't believe he was able to understand or process language. I would prepare breakfast, and Donnette would feed him before she left. She was very reliable and trustworthy, and I was always confident that she would be there for her shift. She is quiet but outgoing, and a pleasure to have around. I feel that Donnette was also very tuned in to me and my needs, and I appreciated that she was available to fill in when I needed extra help with my husband. I recommend her without qualification.

Donnette cared for my mother from 2014-2016. When Donnette started, mom had mobility issues and was in the early stages of dementia. I was traveling often and needed someone with the flexibility to live in when needed, and do hourly otherwise. Donnette was flexible and dependable, and I was able to count on her. She would even come on the weekends when needed, even though weekends were not part of her regular schedule. She has a calm, laid-back demeanor and is very polite. She treated my mother really well, and I know mom loved her. Her responsibilities included helping mom shower and dress, cook, and do light housekeeping. She would use my car to drive mom to appointments when I wasn't available, and I never had a problem with her driving. Mom died in 2016 and we were sorry to see Donnette go. I definitely recommend her as a great caregiver.
