About Me

I am from Ghana, West Africa, and I have been a caregiver since 1998. I am a caregiver because I love taking care of the elderly. One day, I will be in their situation, and when I am working I feel like I am taking care of my mother, grandmother, or someone close to me. I have very good relationships with my clients. Several of them had been bed-bound, and I enjoyed playing cards or reading with them. Some of my more mobile clients enjoyed going out to the pool and out in the community. I have cared for many clients with different situations. For example, a former client of mine had Parkinson's, and she would lose her balance when she started walking. To help her walk, I would establish a counting system, and she became more confident when we walked. If she started shaking, we would take a break, relax a little, and get going when she felt stronger. I was with this client to the end, and her family told me that I was wonderful and made their relative's last days happy and comfortable. I am very caring person, and look forward to meeting new clients. My easy-going nature, good listening skills, and cooking ability make me a wonderful caregiver. When I am not working, I enjoy jogging in my neighborhood and exercising in the park near my home.

Recommendations

After my father's stroke, he was not able to live on his own. I work full time, so in June 2016 I hired Constance to be with him for 12 hours a day, Monday to Friday. It was important that I get to work on time, so I really appreciated that she was reliable and prompt. Dad was bed-bound and not very communicative, but he seemed to like having Constance with him and they had a nice bond. Constance helped with medications, she bathed, toileted and dressed him, and she kept him company. She always seemed to know what to do and she took very good care of him. Constance was with my dad until his death in May 2018. I recommend her as an excellent caregiver.

Constance was brought in as my mother's 24/7 live-in caregiver from January 2012-February 2016. My mother suffered from diabetes and dementia and could not care for herself. Constance was very hands-on and helped my mother with all activities of daily living, as well as light housekeeping. Constance was very sweet toward my mother, and extremely helpful, sensitive, and most importantly, respectful. She took such good care of my mother, and to hear them talk, it was like they were friends forever. My mother could not get around easily, and Constance gladly took her outside into the community in her wheelchair. It pleased our family to see my mother engaged in conversation and as interested as she could be in her surroundings. Before I relocated out of state, I lived very close to my mother's home and would drop in at various times. I was always pleased to see how happy my mother was and how clean the house was. Thankfully, no medical emergencies occurred while Constance was caring for my mother. I would absolutely recommend Constance as a live-in caregiver.
